HHH at Festival of Trees

The Board of Directors of Hospital Hospitality House of Saginaw decorated a tree this year for the Festival of Trees. This was the 7th year that we decorated a tree for this event. The theme of our tree this year was “NICU” in honor of the families we serve with babies in the NICU.

In addition to decorating a tree for the event, HHH volunteers and board members sold homemade jam made by a former guest and our 2021 handcrafted NICU ornaments. The proceeds of the sales at our booth went to sponsor nights of rest for patients and families staying at our houses.

Festival of Trees is the main event for the Junior League of the Great Lakes Bay Region. We participate in this event each year because the Hospital Hospitality House of Saginaw first began with the help of the Junior League and hospital volunteers in 1984. The 2021 NICU ornaments and some of our Pineapple and First Responder ornaments are still available for purchase for $20 at: https://hhhofsaginaw.ejoinme.org/ornaments. Proceeds go towards helping keep families close in times of medical care.

Meal Train for Hospital Hospitality House of Saginaw

After a long day at the hospital talking with medical staff and supporting your loved one it’s nice to come back to a warm meal. So we began working with local groups, pizza places, and businesses to see what we could do to make things a little easier on our guests.

To our delight, the support has been outstanding! Local pizza places such as Papa John’s, Uno’s Chicago Grill, and Milano’s have each offered to sponsor a pizza night once a month for our guests. In addition, we have seen tremendous support from local community groups, churches, and individuals. Even with this great support, we are still always looking for individuals and groups to come in and make a meal for our guests.

Guests will be able to come and eat around 6 pm each day that we have a meal scheduled, or they can come and get a takeout box to take their meal back to the hospital with them.

Our first month of the program has gone really well! But we still need businesses, groups, and individuals to help as this will be a consistent need for our guests and will be an ongoing program. And with the holidays coming up we will need volunteers to help us prepare for Christmas and Thanksgiving. If you would like to help by making a meal for our guests, please visit Meal Train for McNally Hospitality House. If you would like to help provide a meal for our guests but aren’t able to prepare a meal, grub hub certificates and donations are accepted to sponsor a meal by visiting: Meal Train for McNally Hospitality House.

A Hole In One For Hospitality House

September 17th, 2021 was a perfect day for 18-holes of golf. The warm sunny day and gentle breeze provided a great backdrop to an event that set out to help so many in our community and surrounding communities. Saginaw Board of Realtors held a golf outing at Beech Hollow Golf Course with a portion of the proceeds to help support Hospital Hospitality House of Saginaw.

Following this event, the Saginaw Board of Realtors donated $6,000 raised from the golf outing to help patients and families remain close in times of medical care. The funds received will help to provide 200 nights of lodging to guests through our family assistance program. A program that ensures that we are able to provide overnight accommodations to all families that need our services. Even $30 per night (our requested nightly rate) can add up quickly. Especially when guests are often away from home at a moment’s notice and away from work for extended periods of time. The family assistance program sponsors these guest stays to enable us to serve more families.

Thank you to everyone that participated in the SBR golf outing! Your support will help to provide restful nights to those staying at our houses. As well as peace of mind to patients in the hospitals knowing that their loved ones will be close by.
